Environmental Ministries (PCUSA) testimonial
In 2006, the Presbyterian Church USA passed a resolution to encourage all members to “Make a bold witness by aspiring to carbon neutral lives.” Since then, the church has offset its biennial national meetings by purchasing carbon offsets. In 2012, the church ‘walked this talk’ by donating money to the Appalachian Carbon Partnership.
As Rebecca Barnes Davies, Associate for Environmental Ministries (PCUSA) explains, “With the church’s national headquarters based in Kentucky, we wanted to support sustainable forest management efforts that would lead to carbon reduction close to home. The ACP’s work to link nonindustrial, private forest landowners with consulting foresters so that they can inventory their trees and earn revenue from the wealth of natural benefits forests provide, were just two of the reasons we chose to offset with the Appalachian Carbon Partnership.”
